Solva Systems › Decorators
Job management software for painters and decorators.
Quoting by room, colours you can find two years later, materials that match the job, and invoices that chase themselves. Built around how your company already works.
Book a conversationWhat usually goes wrong
Decorating is quoted in rooms and delivered in days, and almost no software understands that. Most companies we talk to are quoting in a spreadsheet, keeping colours in a notebook and finding out about a shortfall when somebody is already on site.
- Quotes get rebuilt from scratch every time. The same three bed semi, the same prep, and somebody works it out again from a blank page.
- Colours live in one person’s head. A customer rings eighteen months later wanting the same white for the hallway, and nobody can say which one it was.
- Materials are guessed and then bought twice. The quantity that went into the quote never quite becomes the order, so the shortfall gets bought at retail.
- Nobody knows what today looks like. Which team is where, what is finished, what is snagged, and what is waiting on a coat drying.
- Variations never make it onto the invoice. The extra door, the extra coat, the ceiling that was not in the quote. Agreed on site, forgotten by Friday.
What we build instead
Hallam & Rowe is one of the systems on our home page. It is illustrative, but the shape is real, and every part of it below is a screen that exists.
Quote by the room
Build a quote room by room from prices you have already used, so the same job takes minutes and comes out consistent.
Colours against the customer
Every colour, finish and code kept against the property and the room. Findable years later without ringing anyone.
Materials that match the quote
What was quoted becomes what is ordered, so you are not buying the shortfall at retail on a Tuesday.
Today, on one screen
Which team is on which job, what is done, what is snagged, and what is waiting.
Variations that get billed
Extra work agreed on site is added there and then, with a photo, and it lands on the invoice on its own.
Invoices that chase themselves
Due, reminded, chased again, paid. You see where every one of them is without opening anything.
Why not one of the off-the-shelf ones
Some of the trade job apps do decorating well enough, and if your work fits how they assume a job runs, they are good value and we will say so. What they mostly do not do is quote by room or keep a colour history, which for a decorator is most of the job.
| Team size | Typical per-seat tool | Over three years |
|---|---|---|
| 5 people | around £40 a seat | about £7,000 |
| 15 people | around £40 a seat | about £22,000 |
| 30 people | around £40 a seat | about £43,000 |
The question is not whether the licence is cheap. It is what you are working around every day, and what that costs you in evenings.
How it works
We learn how you actually run. Usually a couple of calls. If it suits you we will come and spend a day watching the work move through the company.
You see it before you pay anything. We build the opening screens in your branding, with your words for things and demo data in them. Not a finished system, enough to see the shape of yours and tell us where it is wrong.
Then we build the real one. The monthly starts and takes three to six months depending on how much system there is. Every fortnight you are told where it is up to. One fee covers building it, running it, hosting it and improving it.
Worth a conversation about how you quote?
