What this site collects, why, where it goes and how to have it removed.

No cookies and no one else watching

This site sets no cookies. There is no advertising, no social embeds and no third-party scripts of any kind. Nothing on the page is loaded from another company's server, so no one else sees that you visited.

We do count visits, but we do it ourselves on our own server rather than handing you to Google or anyone like them. How that works is set out below.

One thing is stored on your device: solva-theme, which remembers whether you chose the light or dark version of the site. It is set only when you press the toggle, it stays in your browser, and it is never sent to us. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

How we count visits

We want to know whether anyone is reading this and how they found it. To do that, each page records:

Your IP address is never stored. It is scrambled together with a code that changes every day, and only the scrambled result is kept. That lets us count one person visiting three pages as one visitor rather than three, and nothing more. The same person tomorrow produces a completely different result, so we cannot follow anyone from one day to the next, and none of it can be turned back into an address.

No cookie is involved and nothing is stored on your device. We are not building a profile of you, and the counts are never sold, shared or sent anywhere.

Who is responsible

Solvasystems Ltd is the data controller for this website. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17329081, with our registered office at 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA. We trade as Solva Systems.

If you want to ask about anything on this page, or have your details removed, email hello@solvasystems.co.uk.

What the contact form collects

The form on the home page is the only place this site collects anything. When you send it, the following is recorded:

Your name So a reply is addressed to a person. Required.
Email address So we can reply. Required.
Company and phone Both optional. Only recorded if you fill them in.
Your message What you tell us is not working at the moment.
IP address and browser Recorded automatically with the enquiry. Used to limit the form to five submissions an hour from one connection, which is what stops it being used to send spam.

Why we are allowed to hold it

For your name, email, company, phone and message: you asked us to get in touch, so we process it to answer you and to take steps towards possibly working together.

For the IP address and browser string: our legitimate interest in keeping the form working and not having it abused. They are not used to build a profile of you or to track you between visits.

Where it goes

It is not sold, rented, shared for marketing, or passed to anyone else. The only other parties involved are our hosting provider, IONOS, who run the server and the mail system the enquiry travels through, and your own email provider.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept while we are talking, and for up to 24 months afterwards in case you come back to us. After that they are deleted. If you would rather we deleted yours sooner, ask and we will.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or object to us holding it. You can also ask for it in a portable format. Email hello@solvasystems.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month.

If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Systems we build for clients

This page covers this website only. If we build a system for your company, how that system handles data is set out separately in the agreement for that work, and your company is the controller of the data inside it.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
