Solva Systems › Commusoft alternative

A Commusoft alternative for companies it does not quite fit.

Commusoft is capable software. If your company does not work the way it assumes, here is what a system built around your own process looks like, and what it costs.

What Commusoft is good at

Starting here because it is true, and because a comparison page that pretends otherwise is not worth reading.

Worth knowing

Deep on the field service basics: jobs, engineers, parts, invoicing, service reminders.

Worth knowing

Built for teams of about six upwards, and it shows in the reporting.

Worth knowing

Mature, properly supported, and used by a lot of UK heating and plumbing companies.

When you should stay where you are

If your work looks like the way Commusoft assumes work flows, and it is doing the job, keep it. It is a serious product, and replacing working software because it is not bespoke is an expensive way to feel special.

Where people run into the edges

  • You pay by the head. Every engineer you take on makes it more expensive, whether or not the software fits any better than it did.
  • You cannot see the price without a call. There is no public pricing, so comparing it against anything means booking a demo first.
  • The shape is theirs, not yours. It has to serve thousands of companies, so the thing your company does differently is the thing you work around.

What per seat costs over three years

Commusoft is roughly £30 to £80 per user per month. Per seat pricing is fine while you are small and becomes the main number as you grow.

What we do differently

We start from how your company actually runs and build to that. The engine underneath is already built and hardened, so the difference is the screens, the language and the process, which is the part you actually touch.

One monthly fee covers building it, hosting it, supporting it and improving it. There is no upfront cost: we build the opening screens in your branding first, and you only start paying if you want the real thing. Most systems take three to six months.

The honest summary

Off-the-shelf wins when your company fits the shape it assumes. It is cheaper, it is available today, and somebody else has already tested it. Bespoke wins when the fit is the problem: when the spreadsheet beside the software is doing the real work, when the same thing gets typed twice, and when the answer to "can it do this" has been no for two years.

If you are not sure which of those you are, that is exactly what the conversation is for, and we will tell you if the answer is to stay put.
